Frequently Asked Questions

Ceramedx® is the first ceramide skin therapy system made from all plant-based ceramides and emollients. Ceramedx® products do more than just moisturize the skin: Through the use of our Riceramide®-3 Complex, they actually help heal dryness and return skin to its optimal state.

This technology is our unique blend of natural ceramides (derived from rice bran), cholesterols and free fatty acids that when combined mimic the three essential lipids in the stratum corneum. Upon application, R-3 absorbs into the skin to nourish, hydrate and replenish the skin barrier and support skin renewal. We combine R-3 with hyaluronic acid and other natural emollients for their perfect moisturizing benefits.

Our products are approximately 97% natural. The ceramides, moisturizers and active ingredients found in Ceramedx® products are all plant-based and not chemically or synthetically derived.

The vegan cholesterol component is delivered through the plant-based, Gycine Soja Sterols. Due to the way these sterols mimic the function of cholesterol, many skincare products reference them as “cholesterol”.

Ceramedx® products have undergone extensive clinical testing by third-party laboratories to ensure the unlikelihood of irritation, even on sensitive skin.  All of our testing is human testing (Ceramedx has never been tested on animals).

Yes!  All products are cruelty-free. Ceramedx® products do not contain animal ingredients and are never tested on animals.

Yes! All products are gluten-free. Ceramedx® products do not contain ingredients derived from wheat or gluten and are GMO-free.

Ceramedx® is formulated with the most gentle and natural ingredients available. Always consult your pediatrician before using skincare products on children.

The skin barrier is the outermost layer of your skin. Think of your skin barrier as “bricks” (skin cells) and “mortar” (lipid bi-layer). Ceramides play a vital role in the health of our overall skin barrier. They are part of the “mortar” which helps skin retain moisture and protects it from bacteria and pollutants. Over time, our ceramide system (ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids) becomes depleted, which can lead to an underperforming skin barrier.

The skin naturally contains a ceramide system, which is a balance of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids. This system is the integral component that helps retain moisture and repel bacteria and pollutants. As our ceramide system depletes over time, our skin becomes sensitive, dry, cracked and irritated. The right balance of this ceramide system is essential for skin barrier function and healthy looking, beautiful skin.

External factors such as sun, cold, low humidity, interior heating and cooling systems, swimming pools and the related chemicals to maintain healthy swim conditions, showering, bathing, and pollutants in the air are some of the influencers of dry skin. All of these factors can aggravate and deplete the natural moisturizing elements in our skin.

Not moisturizing your dry skin over a period of time may lead to more severely irritated, flaking and cracking skin as the skin barrier depletes further. More acute conditions such as eczema can emerge. Using the right kind of moisturizer for your skin can help replenish the skin barrier for healthy, radiant skin.

We use plastic-free, biodegradable packing materials when packing your order. Our packing peanuts are actually a puffed potato starch product that is highly compostable. Environmentally-friendly, you can simply toss them in your composter, or trash.  They will decompose in moisture
(and melt away).  As we are always looking for earth-friendly shipping methods, we found these packing peanuts to be the best option at this time.
